High Pressure Die Casting
>>High pressure die casting process:
The die casting process is the process of filling the mold with molten metal at high pressure and high speed, and forming castings by crystallization and solidification under high pressure. The presence of pressure is the main feature of the die casting process that distinguishes other casting methods. Pressure casting is a special casting method with less and no cutting, which develops rapidly in modern metal processing technology.
High pressure and high speed are the main characteristics of pressure casting. The commonly used pressure is tens of mpa, the filling speed (inner gate speed) is about 16 ~ 80 m/s, and the time for liquid metal to fill the mold cavity is very short, about 0.01 ~ 0.2 seconds.
>>Process characteristics:
Advantages:
1. High pressure and high speed.
2. High production efficiency.
3. The parts have high finish and beautiful appearance.
4. Can make complex shapes with high accuracy ISO-8062-CT5-6.
5. Widely used.
Disadvantages:
1.Easy to produce pores, cold isolation, shrinkage cracking, etc.
2.Can not be heat treated, the strength is slightly poor.
3.The mold cost is slightly higher than other processes.
>>Type:
1. Aluminum alloy die casting, the most widely used.
2. Zinc alloy die-casting, higher strength than aluminum alloy, but large weight, high cost.Mainly used for some bearing parts, accessories, etc3. Copper alloy die-casting is only used for special projects, exquisite decorations, lamps or aerospace equipment, etc., which is difficult and cost is high.
4. Magnesium alloy die-casting is only used for special projects, exquisite decorations, lamps or aerospace equipment, etc., which is difficult and cost is high.
